BEWARE ALL 2.2 CR-V Diesel OWNERS

Honda UK are aware of these engines buring oil. What YOU will not be aware of is the amount they say is acceptable

625 MILES PER LITRE IS ALRIGHT!

WOW -- I take it that this figure applies to all of Honda's 2.2 diesels in the Accord and FRV?

So, where is the best place to purchase oil for our diesels, then?

When I bought my CR-V diesel (second hand, 6000 miles), the salesman was at pains to warn me about oil consumption and the importance of regular checks. This was backed up by the same in the user manual. Bit concerned about this, but went ahead anyway. Now showing 35000 miles on the clock, am using about 3/4 l between services. So what's the fuss? Clearly others have a very different experience. Driving style? I generally don't drive hard, mostly long (motorway) journeys and get very acceptable fuel consumption (see post on that subject).

TBH, I haven't noticed anything too drastic either. Do about 10,000 miles a year, about town and motorways, and only add oil when I do my annual service... 55plate, if that makes any difference (maybe Honda fixed things by then?)

FRV owner with the 2.2 Diesel. So far done about 10K since March and really not noticed any sort of drop in oil level. I do check every week or so.

To be honest used to have to top up my old ford deisels more than this.

As long as you check regularly and top up when needed I dont see a big issue
