Accord Tourer Clutch/Flywheel

Accord Tourer Clutch/Flywheel

I have an 04 Accord Tourer 2.2 deisel which has done 123,000 miles .I have just had a new clutch fitted at a main dealer who told me when quoting, it was likely that the flywheel would need replacing too. A friend of mine ,having been in the motor trade many years, suggested that I ask if it can be skimmed, rather than paying £697 for a replacement.

I was told categorically NO. It is not possible to skim a dual mass flywheel.

I duly had the work done and ,unsurprisingly, had to have a new flywheel.

When I was told over the phone that the total for the job was £1400 I decided to check with another main dealer if this was in line. Whilst on the phone I asked this dealer if the dual mass flywheel could be skimmed and he said he would contact the engineering company who carry out this work and get back.

An hour later he calls to advise that the flywheel can be skimmed for £75 ???!!

I have retained the old clutch plate and flywheel and another mate says the flywheel looks hardly worn.

Who do I believe and anyone got any suggestions regarding action
