Advice on buying a CR-V

Hello,

Am toying with the idea of buying a CR-V but have a some questions that hopefully someone can answer.

I live in the countryside north of Aberdeen and during the recent snow was totally stuck as I drive a BMW 320d (and yes I have had some stick over the last few weeks). Live down 0.5 miles down an old farm track and was wondering how good the CR-V is in snow and is there a means of locking the differential or does the Real time 4WD not allow this? Would I probably be better getting a set of winter tyres as well? I am not doing any serious off roading but need the clearance coming down our drive and the ability to get up and down snow covered hilly roads.

Am looking at a 55 2.2 ctdi executive with only 30k on the clock for just under £13k.

I am well aware of the Honda reputation regarding build quality etc but are they as reliable as everyone says? Anything major to look out for, and most importantly what is the fuel consumption like? My round trip to work each day is about 50 miles, so economy is a big factor in my selection, is there any other makes to consider??

Thanks very much for any advice.
Cheers
Gavin.
