I have had various problems with my CR-V, including a complete power outage when towing on the motorway. Also problems with warped discs. See http://hondacr-v.webs.com/ for the whole story.

You have probably given up checking for a response to your question, but if it is any help I have had a 2006 Executive and regularly tow a large trailer of logs with it. I have never had a problem towing at all.

Whether towing is the cause of the brake problem I do not know. Maybe it is something else. The vehicle is supposed to be capable of towing and I was very careful to check that the (braked) trailer weight was within the specifications set by Honda. It would actually be worse if it was something else as this would mean there was a fundamental problem. Whether it was that particular vehicle which was problematic or whether there is an issue with the model in general I do not know. Either way, I got sick of all the problems and switched to a Toyota RAV4. This incidentally has a towing capacity of 2000kg against the capacity of the CR-V which I think was 1500 kg. This will give me a greater margin.

I've been towing 1300kg with Petrol and Diesel for 5 years - never had a problem. I found the diesel easier and more relaxing to drive due to the lower down grunt. Am now towing 1500kg with a 2.2.
Had a Mk2 up to 85 once and the Mk3 up to 80 without any weave. (only the once mind - just to see)
