FR-V boot lock mechanism - how to remove

Postby ianmcleod on Mon May 24, 2010 8:26 pm

My FR-V is having real problems with the boot not unlocking and the handle siezing. I've tried to get the handle released by spraying with WD40 but the only real way to sort it looks like dismantling the mechanism and lubricating it all. I've tried to get it out but can't get past removing the boot lining as I'm frightened to break any plastic clips. Anyone any idea how to get access?

boot locks on the frv are complete *&^%*&^%s.......

if you can get into the boot area (very tricky) there is 2 pull off panels on the interior part of the boot....

remove the bottom one and youl need to insert a small (less than 5mm) flat screwdriver into the screw like mechanism and viola the boot opens

honda apparenty made the boots so robust to stop people breaking into them so the mechanism is very strong (similar to dead locking (without the deadlock)- so tough that 3 seperate release solenoids working in unison arent enough to pull the trigger for remote boot popping- when i get some more cash im having to go down the hydraulics route which touch wood will be strong enough!
Image Image Image be different and get modifying!!!

My boot lock has started sticking too. What part actually sticks in the mechanism?
