HELP!, this is a real problem for me, it is deffinately weather related, most probably temperature (nothing new here i know).

One of my neighbours was compelled to knock on my door at 1AM to inform me that the alarm was going off and had been for some time, i fear i will become the focus of a huge amount of anger if i do not get to the bottom of this problem. I have not bothered going down the dealer route yet as my experience tells me that they will not be able to recreate the fault and will only offer me "ballpark" solution, which in the current climate i can not afford!

Someone update me to the solution please before i have to move home!

My quick-fix of covering the 2 ultrasonic sensors near the rear view mirror with black electrical tape seems to be working for me so far, why not try that pending a proper solution?

Hello, I'm a newbie on this forum and I've had my FR-V 2.2 sport 4 years from new.
I found I could lock the car and disable the sensors by locking the drivers door by reaching in from the passenger door and then shutting the passenger door. Car locked, sensors off. Had to do this sometimes as I had our dog in the car and he kept setting alarm off  .

Interesting option frv-fan, thanks for the update, I'll give it a try - although my black tape over the sensors still seems to be working i.e. no more false alarms (so far!). 8-)

Hi Scorrybreck

Does constantly locking the car without the ultrasonics invalidate your insurance at all? I wonder if in the event that your car was stolen, if they found out that you'd effectively disabled one of the security systems, would they use it as an excuse to not pay out?

Cheers,

Kev

Hmmm, scary thought! However I think it's pretty academic really, because firstly the 'primary' protection of a door opening will still trigger the alarm, so its not as if the entire alarm system is disabled - and secondly, I think its highly unlikely that they would ever know, unless the car was stolen and then subsequently recovered and they noticed the small pieces of tape over the sensors - all of which is infinitely less likely than my neighbours hounding me off the estate as a result of frequent false alarms in the middle of the night...!!! By the way, if you are an insurance assessor I'll deny all knowledge of this post....
