Honda stop making the FRV!!

Honda axes the FRV

That's a real shame - I wonder if it is due to the unusal layout, which means that the production line cannot be used on other models.

Looks like thay won't even be replacing it..

thats a real shame, but may be it will mean used prices will remain high/stable as they become more sort after?

It may also mean that replacement parts may also be (more) expensive and difficult to get hold of. It's a shame, the fact that you always have a boot AND extra setas was a major selling point and the USP (and for the Multipla, of course). Add the Hoda reliability, and for a family, I honsestly beleive it is the best MPV on the road.

I wonder why it didn't sell - was it the lack of marketing by Honda (some have described the FRV as it's best kept secret)? Was it the unusual seat layout?

I think lack of marketing. It is the best all round mpv out there, but i think the 2+3+2 has become the standard that people expect, therefore 2 rows of 3 not appearing normal!

I would say marketing. Can't remember ever seeing a clever Honda-esque TV ad. It came out about the time "The Accord" ad appeared I think. Clever ad. Can't remember Top Gear or 5th Gear reviewing it. Very low key. I noticed one in Tescos garage though "What the hell is that got to get one".

Gets generally good reviews but poor publicity. No match for the "wagging dog" Scenic perhaps?

Could be something else entirely

They are very rarely seen on the road and my mates all love the arrangement. Plus the overall looks and style. it would've been hard to come up with a new shape. So in a way I'll always have the latest shape. Suits me.

How will this announcement affect future parts? WIll replacement parts always be readily available? Most likely expensive, too!
And I suppose the residual prices will remian high? I was thinking of buying doem specific things for the FRV from the dealer - I wonder if they will be selling them cheap?

If anyone does speak to a dealer re parts, i would appreciate asking if they have any FRV alloys knocking about!

Also, did anyone see the FR-V get mentioned on top gear on Sunday - wasn't great, but hey, they just missed the point of the car altogether (as usual!)

Yup, I saw the bit on Top Gear - I got all excited when I saw the photo, but gradually got less excited the more the piece went on. Shame, but it makes our little club even more of a special secret!

God, how sad does that sound...

Aye - wasn't too impressed with Jezza's comments but didn't make too much of a point apart from the photo which I through was funny. Peeps with kids get it. I think if they would've used it in theMPV rtial with the cMax and the Scenic it would've been interesting. Hey ho ifs and buts.
