In car stereo

Postby steveFRV on Sat May 31, 2008 12:02 pm

Hi,
Newbie here...!
Just bought an 05 FRV and want to fit an iPod kit to the beast.
Anyone have any experience? Is the FR-V similar (identical?) to the CR-V in terms of on board equipment? It would be nice to think so...!
Thanks
Steve

Hi guys

I read on another (now defunct) forum that this can be done. I believe there is a cable you can plug into the aux port on the back of the CD player that you can then thread in to glove compartment or leave dangling about. No idea on details though other than it was a bit you could buy on ebay. I use an FM transmitter to get round this but would be interested in any other ideas peeps can come up with.

Hope this helps

Cheers

http://www.incarcables.com/auxinput.html

I have found the above lead - I also have the SatNav system, but can't locate the aux socket. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Same as Jeffrz, I use an FM Transmitter with my phone and find it quite easy to use. Best of all, no messing about with cables as it drags power from the phone. No Aux socket required.

What FM transmitter do you guys use? Sounds like a good temporary solution, maybe even a permanent one!

As I said, I use my phone (Sony Ericsson K800i) and the FM transmitter for the phone (MMR 70). I bought it via Amazon for less than 10 pounds. You just tune the radio into a not used frecuency, set the transmitter to the same frecuency and presto, music, artist and song on the radio display.

For iPods I have seen devices on PCWorld and Argos. Not sure about the price.

Good luck

If you do a search for iTrip you should find what's is commonly used.

Actually - just done a quick ebay search and this is the one I use

Fine with all my iPods (various NANOs and ipods up to 160Gb classic) but not my iPhone 3G.

Just done an ebay search and found this - looks ok.

The SonyEricsson gadget sounds perfect - I have the W960i, and with 8GB of music (potentially), I think I may have found a reasonable solution. Thanks, guys for your help!

One other question - would the MMR70 allow voice calls to come through the stereo?

I have never received a call while using the device!!! I will try tomorrow!!!!
The instruction leaflet says that the caller information (name or number) will be sent to the display and that the music is muted. So I imagine no, but will try anyway.
