I have an elderly friend who has just returned from 3 weeks in hospital. He found his battery flat when trying to start the year old CRV. He connected the battery charger and, when all the lights started flashing he gave up trying to charge the battery, any ideas ? I believe, he told me, that he should have been able to charge the battery without problem, in situ.

Is it normal for all the lights to start flashing when starting to charge the battery in-Situ and still connected.
