Won't start help please .....

Postby 98crvman on Thu Apr 17, 2008 8:33 am

I have a 98 CR-V and it won't start ! it has full power and it is behaving like its still in drive (Its a 4 speed column shift) and as you are probably aware the vehicle is as dead as a dodo when in any other position apart from "P" (park) is selected when starting the vehicle just wondering if this is a common problem ? with either the column shift itself or as I think it might be a modukle failure

When the ignition key is turned the gear selected display shows the vehicle to be in "P" but also for a few seconds in "D4"

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated

Regards

I'm afraid it sounds like the torque convertor my friend, the big downfall of the otherwise excellent auto box.

You could bypass the starter circuit and start it that way run a direct live to the starter solonoid make sure you are in park position before you try this
