1995 civic can anyone help

Postby MALSTER on Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:02 am

Hi guys just new to this site and still finding my way around so please bear with me.I have a problem with my 95 civiv 3 door hatch 1.5 automatic. When she is started and the automatic choke is on she runs fine, when she heats up to normal the idle goes from 1000 revs to 1500 and back ,up and down and wont settle. This started last week and then the car stopped altogether and wouldnt start. After a bit of checking the distributor needed a new coil pack as the engine wasnt getting any spark to fire up.With that fixed the idle problem is still there so i am going to fit a new set of plugs and leads and a new air filter to see if that helps. All the electrical connections etc around the engine seem fine and there is nothing obviously loose or hanging off.when driving it sometimes feels like it might be fuel related.any comments or suggestions as to what to do or try will be greatly appreciated. Thanks MAL

Sound like the idel jet has a bit of dirt in it.
start the car let it get warm and then put the pedal to the metal three or four time this may clear it if not you may have to strip the carb and clean it out this may be a good time to replace the fuel filter if you have not done so.
