shudder when tight cornering

shudder when tight cornering

Postby jerrrpolecat on Sun Aug 23, 2009 12:53 pm

Hi,

I have just aquired a 1996 import CRV Automatic which seems to of been really well looked after and drives really well. My only concern is that when turning slowly in a tight space there is some 'shuddering'. Not in a major way but it certainly doesn't seem to like it. Is this something to be concerned about?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Not sure if its the same but I had a 2003 CVR which had a similar problem, when I got a HONDA dealer to check it out it was to do with the rear diferential.

Apparently because the four wheel drive mechanism is automatic the rear diff can get a bit clogged up becasue it is not constantly in use. The dealer flushed it through with some special grease and it was fine after that.

Not sure if that is any help but it worked on my car.

Certainly is the rear diff - just had mine flushed through and the noise / grating went away.
It's a common (ish) fault. If you dont get it done, you'll be looking at a bill for £1000+ for a new diff.
Have it flushed through on every service - its worth the money...
