CD Player

Postby Piddie on Wed Mar 18, 2009 11:39 am

I have a 2007 Civic ES that has had numerous problems with the CD player. I am currently on my third player now and this has just started to have the same problem as the others and the dealers dont seem to know whats wrong with it.

The problem is that CDS seem to jump/cut out, but the problem is only intermittent. Sometimes the CDS play fine, other times they jump/cut out constantly. I have noticed that they tend to be ok at low speeds, but as soon as I get on a motorway/dual carriageway it seems to trigger some sort of reaction and the cds start to act up. My current player has been in for about 5 months now and has been fine up until a week or two ago. I'm not sure if its related but my steering wheel also makes a twittering sound as if there is a budgie stuck inside it intermittently, and it appears to come from behind the centre of the wheel where the air bag is located. I was wondering if its related as the steering wheel has cd controls on it.

Has anybody else experienced similar problems or have any ideas what it may be as I'm at the end of my tether.

Thanks

Wow... sounds very strange

Can I just clarify that you have had three different CD players in the same car, and they all had the same fault? Sounds like the problem is with the car, and if the CD is jumping and stuttering, maybe the issue lies with the suspension. Perhaps there are problems with the vibrations (especially as you mention that the CD player stutters more at high speeds).

Good luck, and let us know how you get on

Yep 3 different cd players in the same car. I have a parrot kit installed and have had the phone company replace that thinking it could be related as it mutes the speakers when in use, but again the problem persists.

I am now starting to wonder if its a cable break to the speakers, and is triggered by the vibration on the road starting it off. Like you I dont believe 3 different players can all have the same fault, although when this latest one was installed my dealer said that they had spoken to Honda who admitted they had some unrelated problems with one model of player, so apparently this is a different style to the first few I have had.

I will let you know if I get a result.

Thanks

No problems - have you tried another make of CD player? Just to see if the same thing occurs. At least you would be able to know if it was a particular model of CD player, or something wrong with the car
