aux-input or audio jack input to built in stereo?

Postby vincentdarley on Tue Jan 12, 2010 8:38 am

Does the FR-V stereo have a standard (3.5mm jack) audio input of some kind that I can hook up an iPod or iPhone to? (If so - where is it - I can't see any!).

Assuming it doesn't, what 3rd party kits have you used to provide such a hook up - is there a simple kit which will just provide a 3.5mm socket for input? That would be the most flexible for my use, I think.

I'd prefer not to use one of those FM-transmitter things, since in central london they don't work well (too much interference).

thanks for any help!

Yes you can buy a lead, its uses the cd changer connector at the back of the stereo and the other end is just a standard 3.5 jack plug.
I looked into fitting one on mine but then found out how much is involved in removing the stereo and thought again! when i need to take the dash apart then i will fit one.
Best thing to do is speak to your local car radio specalist, they will be able to hook you up.

I have an older version of this :-

I didn't want to dismantle my dashboard either, so got the Honda dealer to fit it while it was in for a service. I got my one fitted so that the cable terminates in the glovebox so the Ipod stays in there out of sight. You don't need to touch the Ipod as the car stereo just sees it as a CD changer - so you can change playlists using the head unit and change tracks using the steering wheel buttons.

I got mine fitted when the vehicle was in for a service - they charged me £50 to fit it.

I bought my xcarlink off ebay for £46 + £6 p&p, so all in it cost me £102. I think it's money well spent and would certainly buy another if my next car doesn't have an aux input.

Hi Just to let you know I to fitted the DMC to CD changer input and I am very impressed as stated fitted mine myself and is not for the faint hearted.
Incase you want to know you must remove the panel around the gear stick and trim surounding cigarette lighter and also bezzel around display of radio that is also attached and finally 2 screws under the radio holding it in.Word of warning if not sure get a pro to do it hope this helps.

But worth the stress
I have a 2005 late 1.7 alloys frv

Many thanks

does the dmc allow you to continue a mp3 track from where you left off? ie if you switch off ignition halway through a track, does it resume from that point onwards?

Also did yours get shipped from china? can't seem to locate any uk suppliers.

where did you route/mount yours?

very tempted by this!
