Accord 2.2 i-ctdi '04 Clutch Replacement!

Accord 2.2 i-ctdi '04 Clutch Replacement!

Postby wig on Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:05 am

Hi all, My mate has an Accord '04 plate, 2.2 i-ctdi and the clutch made a horrible row the other day, but then went away. We understand that they do suffer from a clutch problem, but to be on the safe side we are going to replace it any way.

This is a dual-mass flywheel right? Is it worth replacing that at the same time?

Having looked at it myself, it doesn't seem a bad job to do. Autodata don't list any repair times for this job, which is a bit worrying, but all looks straight forward. Does anyone know any different? Anyone attempted one before?

Any help or advice before we start the job would be very kindly received!

Thanks in advance,

Craig!

Hi craig,
Never done one myself but you are right they do have DMF and I would imagine its that which is causing the problem. On other cars i've done they havn't been to bad as long as you can deal with honda parts prices!
I do know on some BM's they can be a pig to get off but again not impossible.
Good luck

Thanks Mark, my mate went to Honda just to see how much they would charge... Think of a number, double it, then double it again! Yes, over £1800. Parts for it we can get ourselves without going to Honda, just the job looks more complex than we first thought!

Had a good look at it the weekend, it seems the subframe will have to be lowered, which means the steering rack will have to be removed as it is bolted to the subframe, before you can even get a glimpse at the bell housing bolts! Not sure it's a job we want to be doing on the floor outside in the elements with the Great British weather as good as it is!

Maybe if we had a ramp, it wouldn't be so awkward. Hmmm, lots to think about! It's working fine at the moment though!

Cheers,

Craig!

The joys of working on cars in your drive way on axle stands!
I think most medium sized cars have sub frames that need to be removed, its a pain in the a***!

Leave it for as long as possible :)

He's found some mug, erm I mean someone to do it for him, a hell of a lot cheaper than honda, that's not hard, I hear you scream!

At least we ain't got to break our backs now!

Thanks for your input Mark!
