Changing the Battery

Postby partviking on Fri Aug 06, 2010 7:10 am

My daughter has a 1.7 FRV 2006 reg and she needs a new battery. Whilst I am quite happy to change it I am not sure what effect the temporary loss of feed to the electrical systems may have on the various components. We can't find a radio code which from experience usually needs to be re-inputed, does this model have a radio code? Also I believe it sometimes affects the alarm system when the battery is removed is this the case? Any information gratefully received.

Many Thanks

Hi Alan,
You will be quite safe to change the battery, just make sure everything is off esp the ignition but with the doors unlocked. I'm 99.9% sure the radio does not have a code and as for the alarm system as long as it is switched off (doors unlocked) you should have no problems.

Many thanks Mark, I guess the improvements in security make radio codes almost obsolete, not only that but the elusive 'man in a pub' has no one to flog them to as everyone has got one!

Many Thanks
