Hi All -

seen another highly specc'd (leather and navi) 2006, 2.2 diesel. the only thing that isn't perfect, is that the mileage is 54k, but does have full history. Not owned a diesel before, is such mileage on a 3yr old diesel engine an issue?

Can someone advise, if they have a diesel, what is likely to come up in the service schedule at this mileage point?

cheers

Sounds like a potential - How much is it? The milage is certainly not a problem - if you remember, my 55 diesel came with 84K, and I found no issues with the engine - it felt like new. I am expecting the engine to last at least 200k, and maybe even beyond!! And just in case you were wondering, I get about 35mpg internal, and about 45mpg on the motorway. The trip computer suggests that at 35mpg, a full tank could do 400miles. Not sure what that would work out to if the mpg were 45mpg... any one want to work it out??

According to the history on my FRV, the some things that may come up in a service (recommend Kwik-Fit BTW - there is a discount code floating about the forum somewhere) are the tyres, wipers, and oil. Jefferz may suggest otherwise...

Thanks mate, reassuring to know that mileage shouldn't be an issue. Its up for £9.5k on a 2006 plate.

A read some user reviews that some recall for EGR valve caused poor fuel economoy - is there anyway to test for this on a test drive?

I think a phone call to a dealer will help you find out. They should be able to tell you which models the recall applies to.

Good find - very useful. Looks like my car is fine, and is not affected by the recall. Phew!

Hi there:

I have an 05 2.0 SE (petrol) and find the car great.

A couple of things do get me:

Seat adjustment: We both (me and my wife) exchange the car at least twice a month and I have found the seat adjustment useless. It lacks the wheel in our Astra and although you can fix it with both levers and find a reasonably good driving position, its not as good as it should be. Maybe its just me.
Radio interference: Its not the Traffic Anouncements!!!. Every time the radio is on, short interruptions (less than a second) get into whatever you are listening to. Its like another radio station trying to jam into the station.
MPG: Good in motorways (40ish driving at 70mph) but rubbish in town (about 27MPG) and an average mixed of 30MPG. Yes I have tested the MPG on motorways and can say it does make a difference if you drive at 60mph compared to 70mph in terms of fuel savings. But with a 2.0L abd still loads of power, who can drive at 60mph???
Internal rear view mirror: Cars look funny through the internal rear view mirror. It may be the rear window shape.
Bike rack: Its a no-no a rear bike rack. Only a towbar or a roof mounted will do.

It might look like a long list of compliants, but we really enjoy the car and find it fantastic and have never regreted our decision.

thanks for your comments, very helpful. I don't get why manufacturers don't all use wheel adjustments on seats. My merc has it, and your guaranteed to find a good driving position. I've also read elsewhere about the rear window distortion.

I'm still looking for the right FR-V for us.

Yeh, what the hell is that?? You'd think it would be too difficult for the stereo to hold on to the signal!! Spoils it when I'm listening to the footy or Radio1 in the morning (Keep missing the goals or jokes!)
