Fuel Consumption

Fuel Consumption

Postby RodA on Sun Apr 04, 2010 8:33 pm

I've just purchased a low mileage 2007 CTDi, and just returned from the first long trip.

Having covered 250 miles with the cruise set at 74 mph, all on motorways with light traffic (AC off) I've only got a average of 37 MPG.

The 'Extra Urban' figure quoted is 47.9 mpg?

I would be interested to hear what mpg others get with this engine on a long motorway trip please.

Thanks

I have a 2007 model like yours and I am currently recording 45.1 mpg on the car display. The difference may be speed as on my most recent motorway trip with two passengers I set the cruise at 70. I have increased my tyre pressures to slightly over recommended and I am consciously trying to drive economically e.g. never carry more than halfe a tank of diesel. I have to say that when I am towing my caravan the MPG falls to around 35. I have 24000 miles on the clock. Hope this helps.

Hi, recently ( beginning of April) got an '09 2.2CDTi with 11,500 miles on the clock. Currently in mixed driving, mostly local with some shortish motorway runs, getting an indicated 35.8 mpg. Must confess I was hoping for more but i don't think that's too bad given the size and weight of the vehicle. Had a 56 plate Civic petrol i-shift which i was getting around 40mpg doing the same sort of runs so bit of a change but not as bas as I expected.

On mixed driving I get 44-45mpg on my diesel, though recently achieved 47mpg driving on back roads in mid-south France where the weather was VERY WARM.
Last winter in the UK when it was VERY COLD, I could only get about 37-38mpg. Not sure if this difference was normal. :?
