Hi All,
I have just taken delivery of a new (2008) model Accord EX diesel with ADAS and I couldn't get the radio to recognise a USB flash drive placed into the USB socket in the car. The error message was "unsupported format"
After some research I found that Ipods use the windows FAT32 file system. I checked the system on my flash drive and it was the older Microsoft FAT file system.
I reformatted the flash drive in my computer with the FAT32 sytem, downloaded a test track and hey presto! it worked.
Of course in reformatting the drive, all the previous data was lost.
As you can now get 8 gigs of flash drive for a reasonable price, this is a very nice way of storing your music. The radio shows all the tracks and folders on the Satnav screen and it is an easy way to handle the music.
I am not familiar with other models' audio systems but I suspect that if you do have the facility and can't get it to work, then it might be a good idea to try this.
If you have an Ipod ( overpriced and overrated ion my opinion) then you can plug in without a problem.
regards
John
