I have a 2008 1.8 FRV. Great versatile car loaded with options and good for the price.
I am very happy with it and drive it to work every day. We took a trip to go camping this weekend and all went well. I find in general the car has to be pushed above at least 3500 revs to keep up with the speed of the traffic when changing gears. I think the weight of the car is a bit on the heavy side for an 1.8 and make it sluggish. The 6th gear also has to be changed back to 5th with the slightest up hill. Is there is anything simple one can do to get a bit more power?
Otherwise it's a fine piece of engineering.

guessing that the 1.8 engine is the same used in other honda cars, therefore will be some mods available. But i don't think that there is much you can do on the cheap to get a bit more power - may be try using the higher octane fuels?

I thought about that, but I wonder if the difference will be noticeable. Also is it safe for the engine?

So I filled up the other day with high octane petrol. I did not notice any difference in power at all and eventually yesterday I had to fill up again and I'm back to normal unleaded. I read somewhere that it will not make a difference anyway since the engines of today's fuel control mechanisms will automatically adjust accordingly and just use less fuel to do the same work using high octane, but not increase output.

You could do a search on google for any tuning/performance centres near where you are and give them a ring and see if they can remap the ecu for you. This would increase BHP and torque if available.
